Laura mercier translucent powder12/28/2023 I think a red/cool toned powder would have been less versatile. I love that she made it warm instead of cool as it makes it more versatile for setting highlight on darker skin tones since the face is usually warmer towards the centre. The powder felt just like the Original: smooth, buttery and luxurious. Since it is a higher end brand, it does cost a pretty penny but some items (like this one) must be deemed splurge-worthy. The powders retail for $38 for 1 oz/30mL and can be found on the website or at Sephora. Aunty Laura herself went on to explain, “I created this new shade, Translucent Medium Deep to look natural and translucent on even the deepest skin tones – so every woman can achieve a flawless finish.” Okayyyyy Aunty Laura, we see you! The website also states that the Original Translucent shade works best for fair to medium and tan skin tones while Translucent Medium Deep was designed for medium deep to the very deepest skin tones. It has a “soft-focus effect” that blurs out lines and imperfections without looking cakey. And of course, I had to review it for my readers!!! What is itĪccording to the website, the translucent loose powder applies smoothly and evenly, blends effortlessly and provides a matte finish with sheer coverage. It’s always a step in the right direction when makeup companies broaden their ranges to include more WOC-friendly shades ( yasssss diversity!). In hopes that the formula remained the same, I could not wait to get my paws on this powder. Imagine my excitement a few weeks ago when they released a new powder in the shape “Medium Deep” – umm hellooooo Laura Mercier x Melanin Magic. The only downside with the original translucent powder is that it can look ashy on deeper skintones, which is so disappointing for my dark chocolate ladies because we all deserve to experience the magic that is Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This powder is a cult favourite that actually lives up to the hype. It prevents creasing and makes my pores literally vanish without looking cakey. While this powder looks intimidating to many women of colour, I use it on myself and clients who are a shade or two darker than me and I have no issues with flashback. I use this powder to set my concealer in all my highlighted areas (forehead, bridge of my nose, under eye and chin), and to carve out my cheek contour. If you’ve been following BeatsbyTiff for some time, you know my all-time ride or die under eye setting powder is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder.
